Google thought that if it cannot control the weather, then it could at least control the weatherperson. To seal the deal, Google has signed a deal with The Weather Channel so that Google Maps can tell the weather on a map. Their relationship, however, goes deeper than that.
Google Earth can now make use of the services of The Weather Channel to provide weather forecasts and even radar. Google Earth has become more complex and information-rich. At least, when you can no longer see your continent on Google Earth, a quick check with The Weather Channel can reveal if your continent is enveloped by thick clouds.
On a side note, The Weather Channel has increased its presence in the Web. It has provided applications to MySpace and IPhone among others. With this recent partnership with Google, however, the relationship of the two companies may even become further entrenched. It could be remembered that The Weather Channel has also worked with Google Earth in improving satellite map service through the creation of layer.
Alongside the efforts of The Weather Channel to extend its presence, Google, together with its applications such as Google Earth and Google Maps, is looking forward to secure popularity for Google Maps.
