It’s quite annoying sometimes to keep a number of Instant Messenger accounts because of the number of account names and passwords that have to be memorized. Good thing if one’s preferred username is available in all the IM protocols available. But this hardly ever happens. The alternative is for you to choose an out of this world username like hjwryh21 and tell your online friends your IM accounts. But who would want that kind of username?
Thankfully, a lot of IM protocols are realizing that they have to start connecting if they were to maximize the services they provide with their subscribers. Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger 9 have started talking on how their users can start talking with each other without having to open too many IM programs running.
Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger have already established a connection with each other. Perhaps more IM brands will join the bandwagon in the near future. If that happens, then the users win! They can maximize the use of one IM and talk with all their friends who prefer other IM protocols. Another option available is to get a multi-protocol instant messenger that opens everything at once.
